We pretty much all got started blogging, by reading blogs first. I read a lot of blogs, but I like to pick one that I devour. I read every single post and comment on stuff that they wrote years ago. It's kind of like stalking. So to apologize for being all creepster, I feature them here with the Icing on the Cupcake.
I'm starting with Unknown Mami. Partly because I have a weird thing about starting from the end of the alphabet and because she was one of the first people I followed and who came an commented on my blog more then once.
She's an anonymous blogger, a California girl, actress, mommy and wife. I of course relate to the mommy and wife, but I think what always draws me to her posts are her Latino side. My husband is Hispanic and I love learning about the culture and pretending that I know more Spanish then I do. And it makes me feel good when I recognize some of the Spanish words she sprinkles into her posts. And when I don't know, Mami always has the English translation next to it. Her 12 Days of Christmas Chicano Style sounded like all the memories my husband has ever shared with me about Christmas growing up. It also made me hungry.
Her posts are almost always funny. But, when she chooses to be honest, especially about her family, that is when you see what a fantastic writer she is. Two of my favorite posts are Let Me Tell You About A Man
She just had a little baby girl, after a difficult pregnancy. Go visit her and send her some love and support. Be prepared to laugh, maybe cry, but definitely find yourself saying "I know what you mean!"
