Weekly Links 6/9

Hello, hello. We are doing pretty good around here. And by that I mean, I slept all day yesterday and Roberto took the kids out to the splash pad. Score! Also don't forget that everything we write here is being tracked by the government. They caught us watching cat videos and blogging. Oh no!

Hey don't forget about the Shabby Apple giveaway, it ends this coming Friday!

Conversations With My Two Yr Old. I have had these exact convos with my kids. Hilarious.

I guess if we want low fat cheese we are girly? Meet Monterrey Jill.

Illinois makes birth control info mandatory in sex ed. Way to get with the times Illinois.

This Stephen Hawking documentary looks beautiful.

The Font Conference. So funny. "Mailbox, mailbox."

This Cheerio's commercial is adorable. Of course since it's an interracial family some asshats decided to make racists comments. It got so bad that they had to shut down the comments section.

That's all folks. Have you seen/read/created anything this week? Share it in the comments!

Shabby Apple Giveaway!-Closed

The winner is Becky R.

I really love vintage clothes (who am I kidding. I just love clothes all together) and I have coveted many, many items from Shabby Apple. They specialize in vintage clothing. They walk that fine line between vintage and modern. A vintage flair without feeling too costumey. So of course I was over the moon when they contacted me about a giveaway.

So who wants an adorable dress? Who wants to pick one out of four of them? Ooooo me!
But since I can't, I'll have to live vicariously through you.

Just shut up and tell me how to win already. Okay, here goes.

To enter, be a follower and leave a comment on this post telling me which dress you want if you win.

Weekly Links 6/2/2013

Hey, how you doin'? We're good. Peanut got new glasses and loves them. I was worried she'd be self conscious or get bullied but nope. All my fears were for naught. The hubs had a job interview and we are crossing our fingers to hear from them. Can I ask for more crossed fingers and good vibes?

Of course, my thoughts and prayers are out their for Oklahoma, who just can't seem to get a break. My cousins own a rental house in Moore and the first tornado skipped right over it and on to the next house and this time they had to hunker down in a basement for a few hours. Thankfully they are alive and well. They were updating their status on facebook to let us know. Sometimes technology is an amazing thing.

I hope all of you are doing well and staying safe.

Mr. Cool Boots, Shia LeBeouf.

I'm not going to lie, this one took me a minute to get. But it was worth it. Happy Birthday Hugh Janus!

Dessert topped with dessert. That's my kind of dessert.

Oddly mesmerizing pictures of food cut in half.

This could be under a "no shit" banner, but it seems to be a thing people actually believe. Woman don't opt out of work because they are wealthy.

That's all I've got. Have you seen/wrote/created anything online? Share it in the comments.

Weekly Links 5/23

Hey look at me keeping up with the blog, kind of. I need positive reinforcement here! Good job, Anastasia for posting one real blog and then a bunch of links. Good job. Thank you! Geez, sometimes you just need a little acknowledgment.

On that note, I think you are all awesome. Whatever you are doing..blogging, parenting, sitting on the couch eating potato chips. Good job. So proud. Really.

And oh yeah. Happy Mother's Day!

Here's the Internet for you.

The seven best parenting lessons from movies. I love Parenthood (the movie,) every time one of our kids does something really weird Robert and I look at each and say "You must be so proud."

Things parents of small children need to admit to themselves. Oh my god, this. It's funny but also really relevant.

Doctor Who henna tattoos. I am so ready to get a tattoo in Gallifrey.

George Takei saying asshole totally makes my day. New gay marriage PSA.

I feel Macklemore so much. When he says "That's 50.00 for a t-shirt." I am like..seriously.

The Blogess' Rules for Life. This needs to be framed in my house. In every body's house.

And you can always click on the pictures to get their source.

Nothing Compares to Me

Check me out. It's all Sinead O' Conner up in our house. So I got bored and shaved my head. This was actually about two months ago, I just haven't updated much lately. It's finally growing into an actual haircut so that's a relief. I've always wanted to shave my head but never had the courage and then I just up and did it. Luckily my husband is the best and supports all my decisions. Even the slightly manic, not well thought out ones.

What's the craziest thing you've done to your hair?

Sweet Weekly Links 5/5

My 6 year old's teacher said she is reading at a third grade level. It's nice to know she gets more then just her clumsiness and smart mouth from me. We're potty training...very..very...slowly. How's it going in your neck of the woods?

Louis C.K. gets it right as usual. Also as usual there's lots of f-bombs!

Advice from writers, written on their hands.

Just finished a book called Just Listen, by Sarah Dessen. It was fantastic. I read it in one day almost non stop. (Stupid life getting in the way of reading time.) Seriously, read it.
Started another of hers, Someone Like You, and was like, man this plot is familiar. Turns out How To Deal, the Many Moore movie was based on this and another of hers. I've always like the movie, I'll let you know about the book.
